lWALT: Create and advertisement persuading people to go to the Special Olympics here in Palmerston North. I used MS Publisher to create this poster. To make my poster stand out and grab the readers attention I had to make everything as bright as I could and as bold as it would go. I found making it bright enough and making it stand out challenging because whatever I tried to make it brighter just wouldn't work. Something I enjoyed was being creative with it because it really showed out our creative side but on the computer. Something interesting I learnt about advertising was that everything has to be bright and stand out.

Special Olympics

lWalt: Follow an inquiry process and present our inquiry learning about the Special Olympics using MS Movie Maker. Before making this movie, I looked over the feedback I recieved last term for my movie about China. Some of the things I took into consideration and tried to improve on when making this movie were being in a quieter place so that you can hear what the people are saying and to make the information easier to understand. Something interesting I have learnt about the Special Olympics during this inquiry is that the Special Olympics has quite alot of different sports compared to the normal Olympics. A challenge I found in this inquiry was being on time with the filming because it takes alot of perseveranceto get them right. I overcame this challenge by sticking to what I was set to do and not fooling off and being silly.

Chinese Transport!!!

Walt: Follow an inquiry process.

This term as we have been learning about China, we have continued building on the inquiry skills we learnt in term 2. We brainstormed open questions as a class and then delegated these out to pairs. The part of China Demi and I were finding out more about was the different ways of transport. We found most of our information from on the internet. We used a data chart to make sure we triangulated all our information so we knew it was true. We then used Movie Maker to present our inquiry. Something I enjoyed was the filming because it was alot of fun but also took alot of pererverance. An interesting fact I found out was thta trains are the mostly used transport in China and that they are not like trains here in New Zealand because thay have speed trains. My next learning step in inquiry is to find out all my information alot faster and maybe to make the movie not so silly and with some more clearer information and more information by itself because some people might not get the way that we have presented it which means they wouldn't of got the fact.

How are Cultures and Traditions Expressed through dance?

During Week 1, we had a variety of learning experiences to tune us into ideas about our new big question for this term-how are cultures and traditions expressed through dance? We had a performance from the Boys High Pacifica group, a performance from St Peters Pacifica group and a drumming workshop. I enjoyed the St Peters Pacifica group most because it was alot of fun and some of the St James students went up the front and did the dance with them. Something new I learnt was the way of pacifican people and the language and also their dancing.

My Final Inquiry Picture!

This voicethread explains what I have learnt during my inquiry on the Glow-Worm. Something I think I did really well during this inquiry process was finding the information about their habitat because I found the information quite fast. Next time I do an inquiry something I could improve on is useing skimming and scanning and also keywords to sumarise all the main ideas because I mostly wrote full sentences. The part I liked best about doing an inquiry was doing my final presentation because it was alot of fun and took alot of hard working dedacation to get it finished.

Year 6 Camp!!!



This slideshow shows some of the fantastic times on camp. Such as the time when we were at the Spring Grove Animal Farm Park, or the time when I was abseiling and also when we were on the fern walk. I used animoto to make it. The highlight of camp was the concert and burma trail because the concert was a good laugh and the burma trail because it was really SPOOKY!
